Business Class, New York to Paris for a fraction of the nearest competitor.
The flight I priced was a little over $2,000 round trip. Now that is a deal!!!!! I am on my way for these prices. I just hope he can keep going. There were plenty of tries in the past. We wish you luck. The Travel Planners, our, Kevin and Sue McCarthy are traveling soon with La Compagnie then we will get “the rest of the story”.
The Hotel Detective has to give this to Frantz Yvelin, the founder and CEO of the new business-class-only airline La Compagnie, currently flying a B757 six times a week between Newark and Paris Charles de Gaulle: He speaks plainly.
“Is La Compagnie the best business class in the sky?” he says at one point over lunch in Paris at Faust Pont Alexandre III, which opened in August. “No. I don’t pretend that. Call Etihad,” he concludes, referring to the Middle Eastern carrier known for splurging on its premium cabins.
Deputy chief executive officer Peter Luethi is equally to-the-point: “It is not going to be the most luxurious business class, but it will be the best for the price,” he says.
That’s La Compagnie’s inflection point. Yvelin believes that the high price of business class fares on the legacy carriers and the relative scarcity of seats as a result of flight consolidation have paved the way for La Compagnie to take market share on NY-Paris. The carrier plans to offer business class at 30-50% less than the big guys’ fares, and through December 14, it is offering a promotional fare of $1,499 round-trip, including taxes and fees. There’s no advance-purchase requirement, meaning one can get this fare tomorrow if there are seats available.
